Clarigard 500 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract, ears, nose, throat and lungs. It contains clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, and is also used for skin infections and peptic ulcer disease caused by H. pylori bacteria.
This medicine works by stopping bacteria from producing the proteins they need to grow, helping your body clear the infection. Take it before meals, as prescribed by your doctor, and avoid taking antacids close to your dose, as they can reduce its absorption.
Complete the entire course of treatment, even once you start feeling better, to fully clear the infection and prevent antibiotic resistance. Staying well hydrated can help ease mild stomach discomfort that sometimes occurs with antibiotics.
Tell your doctor about any known allergies to antibiotics, liver problems, or other medicines you are taking, before starting treatment. Seek medical advice if you notice irregular heartbeat, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or severe diarrhoea during treatment.
