Ciplox-TZ H Tablet is used to treat diarrhoea and dysentery caused by mixed bacterial and parasitic infections of the gut. It is a combination medicine containing ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and tinidazole, an antiprotozoal medicine.
This medicine is also used to treat giardiasis, amoebiasis and some gynaecological and dental infections involving mixed germs. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Avoid taking it at the same time as milk alone, antacids, or iron or calcium supplements. Take it in the dose and for the full course prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better early.
Drinking oral rehydration solution (ORS) and plenty of clean fluids helps prevent dehydration during diarrhoea. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 3 days after the last dose.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have tendon problems, epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, a heart rhythm problem, or liver or kidney disease, and about other medicines you take. It is not usually recommended for children and adolescents, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Stop taking it and contact your doctor straight away if you get tendon pain or swelling, tingling or numbness, or severe diarrhoea. Do not stop taking this medicine for any other reason unless your doctor advises you to do so.
