Cinzole 400/600mg Tablet 10 is used to treat diarrhoea and dysentery caused by bacterial or parasitic infections. It is a combination medicine containing norfloxacin, an antibiotic that kills bacteria, and tinidazole, which kills parasites and certain bacteria, and belongs to classes of medicines called fluoroquinolone antibiotics and nitroimidazole antimicrobials.
This medicine works by norfloxacin stopping bacteria from copying their DNA, while tinidazole damages the genetic material of parasites and certain bacteria, so together they clear the infection. It is also used for amoebic dysentery, giardiasis and trichomoniasis. Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the full course, even if your symptoms improve earlier, as antibiotics only work against bacterial and parasitic infections.
Drink plenty of fluids or oral rehydration solutions to prevent dehydration, and avoid contaminated food and water while recovering. Avoid strong sunlight and use sun protection, and leave a gap of about 2 hours between this medicine and antacids or dairy products.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have tendon problems, epilepsy, kidney problems or heart rhythm problems, or take other medicines. Stop taking it and contact your doctor if you have tendon pain or swelling, and avoid alcohol while taking it and for a few days afterwards.
