Cephlenat 100mg Oral Drops 10ml is used to treat bacterial infections in babies and young children, such as ear, throat, chest and skin infections. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing cefalexin, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called first-generation cephalosporins.
This medicine is also used to treat urinary tract infections in children. Shake the bottle well and give the exact dose prescribed by the doctor using the dropper provided. It can be given with or without food, but giving it with feeds may help if it upsets your child's stomach. Complete the full course, even if your child feels better early.
Make sure your child gets plenty of fluids and rest while recovering. Good handwashing helps stop infections spreading to others in the family.
Before giving this medicine, tell the doctor if your child is allergic to cephalosporins, penicillin or any other antibiotic, or has kidney problems, and about other medicines your child takes. Seek medical help straight away if your child develops a widespread rash, swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe or bloody diarrhoea. Do not stop giving this medicine unless the doctor advises you to do so.
