Betavert 16 Tablet is a medicine used to manage and prevent symptoms of Ménière's disease. This is a disorder of the inner ear characterized by episodes of severe dizziness or spinning sensations (vertigo), ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and progressive hearing loss.
It contains betahistine, which is an analogue of histamine. It works by improving blood circulation and reducing fluid pressure inside the inner ear, which helps stabilize the balance mechanism and decreases the frequency and severity of vertigo attacks. It is best taken with or after food.
To help control dizziness and balance issues, making simple lifestyle modifications can be helpful. These include limiting your intake of salt, caffeine, and alcohol, avoiding sudden head movements, and sitting down immediately when you begin to feel lightheaded or dizzy.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers, asthma, or a tumor of the adrenal gland called phaeochromocytoma. Let them know about all other medications you are taking. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before starting this treatment.
