Asthafen Tablet is a medicine used for the preventive (prophylactic) treatment of bronchial asthma and for relieving symptoms of allergic conditions. Regular use helps reduce the frequency and severity of asthma attacks, sneezing, runny nose, and allergic eye irritation.
It contains ketotifen, an antihistamine and mast cell stabiliser. Take the tablet with or after food as prescribed by your doctor. It is a preventive medicine and must be taken continuously to build protection; it will not stop an acute asthma attack that has already started. Do not stop taking it suddenly.
Avoiding known allergy triggers supports asthma and allergy control. Keep indoor environments free of dust mites, avoid exposure to smoke and strong chemicals, and limit outdoor exposure during peak pollen seasons where applicable.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a history of epilepsy, liver impairment, or diabetes. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Because it may cause drowsiness, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
