APIXAZEN 2.5 TABLET 10 is a medicine used to prevent and treat blood clots. It is used to lower the risk of stroke in people with an irregular heart rhythm (non-valvular atrial fibrillation) and to treat and prevent clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and lungs (pulmonary embolism).
It belongs to a group of medicines called anticoagulants, often called blood thinners, which reduce the blood's tendency to form clots. It is also used to prevent clots after hip or knee replacement surgery. Take it exactly as directed at the same times each day, and do not stop it without medical advice, as this can raise the risk of a clot.
Some general measures can help alongside this medicine. These include taking care to avoid cuts and injuries and carrying information that you take a blood thinner.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any bleeding problems, liver or kidney problems, or other medicines you take, and tell your doctor or dentist that you take it before any surgery or dental work. Report any unusual or prolonged bleeding, a severe headache, or fainting straight away.
