Alcros 200 Capsule is an antifungal medicine used for managing various types of severe fungal infections, including systemic infections of the lungs that can spread throughout the body, infections of the fingernails and toenails (onychomycosis), and yeast infections in the mouth, throat, or oesophagus.

Follow these instructions while taking Alcros 200 Capsule:

• Always swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid opening, chewing, or crushing the capsule.

• Ensure you take this medicine with a full meal.

Alcros 200 Capsule is taken orally.

Alcros 200 Capsule contains itraconazole (200 mg). The activity of itraconazole in your body can be explained through its functions:

• Disruption of Fungal Cell Membrane: Itraconazole disrupts the structure of the cell membrane in fungi. This action leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane.

• Inhibition of Lanosterol 14α-demethylase: Itraconazole inhibits an enzyme called lanosterol 14α-demethylase. This enzyme plays a crucial role in creating ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes.

• Leakage of Cellular Contents: By disrupting the cell membrane and depleting ergosterol, itraconazole causes leakage of cellular contents, which leads to fungal cell death.

• Prevention of Fungal Growth and Spread: By causing fungal cell death, itraconazole prevents further growth and spread of the infection.

• Store Alcros 200 Capsule at room temperature, ideally between 15°C to 30°C.

• Keep the capsules in a tightly closed container, away from light and moisture.

• Ensure the medicine is stored in a place inaccessible to children.

• Always check the expiry date on the package, and do not use the medicine beyond this date.
