Zonisep 25 Capsule 10

Zonisep 25 Capsule is used for the following:

• Managing partial seizures: This is when uncontrolled electrical disturbances occur in one area of your brain.

• Adjunctive therapy in adults with epilepsy: Here, Zonisep 25 Capsule is used along with other medications to manage epilepsy.

Follow these instructions while taking Zonisep 25 Capsule:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the capsule.

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's close to your next dose, skip the missed one.

Zonisep 25 Capsule is taken orally.

Zonisep 25 Capsule contains zonisamide (25 mg), which works on your body in several ways:

• Blocking Voltage-Sensitive Sodium Channels: Zonisamide stabilises neuronal membranes and inhibits the spread of seizure discharges by blocking these channels.

• Reducing Calcium Ion Flow: By reducing the flow of calcium ions into neurons, zonisamide helps control the release of neurotransmitters and neuronal excitability.

• Enhancing GABA Activity: The medicine enhances the activity of GABA, a neurotransmitter that inhibits brain activity, thus helping manage seizures.

• Weak Inhibition of Carbonic Anhydrase: Zonisamide inhibits carbonic anhydrase; however, this action is thought to contribute minimally to its antiseizure properties.

• Store Zonisep 25 Capsule in a cool and dry place where the temperature is below 30°C.

• Keep it protected from light and moisture.

• Ensure it's out of the reach of children.

• Always use this medicine before the expiry date mentioned on the packaging.

• Stay well-hydrated: This can help reduce the risk of kidney stones, a possible side effect of Zonisep 25 Capsule.
