Zomelis DM 500 Tablet is used to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a triple-combination medicine containing dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor; vildagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor; and metformin, a biguanide.
Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess glucose in the urine, vildagliptin increases glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon, and metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves insulin sensitivity. Together, these actions help control blood sugar.
Follow a balanced meal plan with controlled portions of rice, roti and refined foods such as maida and sweets, exercise regularly and drink enough fluids through the day.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver problems, heart failure, pancreatitis or recurrent urinary infections, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Your doctor may arrange periodic blood tests to check kidney function and blood sugar. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
