Zedocef DXL 200 Tablet is utilised for the management of the following conditions:

• Respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Ear infections, also known as otitis media

• Throat infections including pharyngitis and tonsillitis

• Infections in the urinary tract

• Certain sexually transmitted diseases caused by susceptible bacteria

To ensure effective use of Zedocef DXL 200 Tablet, follow these guidelines:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• This medicine can be taken with or without food.

• Always adhere to your doctor's advice on the frequency of taking this medicine.

Zedocef DXL 200 Tablet is taken orally.

Zedocef DXL 200 Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Cefpodoxime Proxetil (200 mg): As a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, cefpodoxime proxetil's function is to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It does this by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), enzymes involved in the making of peptidoglycan that form a major part of bacterial cell walls. This action leads to weakening and ultimate rupture of the bacterial cell wall, causing bacteria to die.

• Dicloxacillin (500 mg): Dicloxacillin is a penicillinase-resistant penicillin antibiotic that also inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls by binding to PBPs, particularly in gram-positive bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus. Unlike some other antibiotics, dicloxacillin is resistant to breakdown by penicillinase, an enzyme produced by certain bacteria to deactivate penicillin antibiotics.

  The combination of cefpodoxime proxetil and dicloxacillin in Zedocef DXL 200 Tablet provides a broad spectrum of activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including strains that produce penicillinase.

• Store Zedocef DXL 200 Tablet at room temperature, ideally below 25°C.

• Keep it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.

• Make sure the medicine is stored away from the reach of children.

• Since Zedocef DXL 200 Tablet is used to manage bacterial infections, include probiotics in your diet. These beneficial bacteria can help restore the good bacteria that might get wiped out by the antibiotic.
