CompositionWarf-5 Tablet is used to prevent and treat dangerous blood clots in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, clots on the lungs (pulmonary embolism), an irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) and mechanical heart valves. It helps lower the risk of stroke and further clots.
It contains warfarin, an anticoagulant that thins the blood. It works by reducing the body's ability to form clots.
Take it at the same time each day exactly as prescribed. Regular blood tests (INR) are essential to keep the dose right, and you should never change the dose yourself or stop it without advice, as stopping raises the risk of a clot.
Keep your intake of vitamin K-rich foods, such as leafy greens, steady, and limit alcohol, as sudden changes affect how the medicine works. Many medicines interact with warfarin, so tell all healthcare staff you take it, especially before any procedure. Seek urgent help for unusual or heavy bleeding. It is not for use in pregnancy.
