Toritz Ra 500mg Injection 50ml is a targeted prescription medicine used to treat specific types of blood cancers, such as Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL). It is also used under expert guidance to manage moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in combination with methotrexate.
It contains rituximab, a monoclonal antibody. It works by targeting and binding to a specific protein (CD20) found on the surface of cancerous and certain normal B-cells, marking them for destruction by the body's immune system to help control abnormal cell overgrowth.
This medicine is administered slowly through a vein as an intravenous (IV) infusion by a specialised medical team in a hospital setting. Pre-medications are typically given before the infusion to minimise the risk of infusion-related reactions.
Before use, inform your oncologist if you have a history of heart conditions, severe infections, or a past hepatitis B infection. Close clinical monitoring is required throughout the treatment cycles.
