Thrombotas Ointmentis a topical medicine used to relieve pain, swelling, and inflammation linked to superficial thrombophlebitis (inflammation and clot formation in veins near the skin). It is also used to help manage bruises, blood collections under the skin (haematomas), and discomfort associated with varicose veins.
Thrombotas Ointment contains heparin, an anticoagulant that helps reduce further clot formation, and benzyl nicotinate, which helps improve local blood flow. Apply the ointment as directed by your doctor.
Supportive care can help recovery alongside this ointment. This includes resting the affected limb when possible, keeping the leg slightly raised to reduce swelling, and wearing compression stockings if recommended by your doctor. Gentle movement and walking can also help blood circulation.
Before using this ointment, tell your doctor if you have any bleeding disorders, open wounds, broken skin in the area, or known allergy to any of the ingredients. Do not apply to mucous membranes, eyes, or open wounds. Stop use and inform your doctor if you notice persistent redness, severe irritation, or signs of an allergic reaction.
