Syndopa CR Tablet is used to manage symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, including tremors, stiffness, and slow movements. By increasing dopamine levels in the brain, it improves motor control and muscle function. It can also help with parkinsonism caused by brain infections, carbon monoxide poisoning, or manganese exposure.

Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Refrain from crushing or chewing the tablet.
Aim to take this medicine at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level in your body.
You can take this medicine with or without food. If you feel nauseous, taking it with food may help.
Remember not to consume high-protein meals or iron supplements around the same time as this medicine, as they might interfere with its absorption.

Syndopa CR Tablet is taken orally.

Syndopa CR Tablet may cause abnormal movements (dyskinesias), nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, dystonia (sustained muscle contractions), and somnolence (excessive sleepiness). If these side effects continue or worsen, contact your doctor for guidance.

Managing the Side Effects:

Nausea: Try taking Syndopa CR Tablet with food to help alleviate this.
Dizziness: Consider taking your medicine at night if it causes you to feel dizzy during the day.

Syndopa CR Tablet consists of two components:

Carbidopa (50 mg): Carbidopa does not cross into your brain. It works by blocking the conversion of levodopa into dopamine in other parts of your body. This reduces side effects like nausea and vomiting and allows a greater amount of levodopa to enter your brain.
Levodopa (200 mg): Unlike dopamine, levodopa can cross into your brain. Once it is in there, it gets converted into dopamine by an enzyme called DOPA decarboxylase. This increase in brain dopamine levels helps manage symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Pregnancy

Caution is advised while taking Syndopa CR Tablet if you are pregnant. It is best to consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breastfeeding

If you are breastfeeding, it's important to discuss with your doctor before starting Syndopa CR Tablet.

Alcohol

It's advisable to limit alcohol consumption while taking Syndopa CR Tablet. High alcohol intake might interfere with the medicine's efficacy.

Liver

If you have a history of liver problems, it's recommended to talk to your doctor before starting Syndopa CR Tablet. This medicine may affect liver function.

Kidney

Drug-Disease Interactions

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) or Akinetic Crisis: Abrupt withdrawal or dose reduction of Syndopa CR Tablet could trigger these conditions.
Myocardial Infarction or Arrhythmias: Patients with a history of these heart conditions should exercise caution while taking this medication.
Narrow-Angle Glaucoma: This medicine should not be used by patients with this eye condition due to potential severe complications.
Skin Lesions or Melanoma: Regular monitoring for melanoma is advised for patients with suspicious undiagnosed skin lesions or a history of melanoma while taking this medication.
