The controlled-release tablet provides a steadier level of medicine through the day, which can help reduce 'wearing-off', when symptoms return before the next dose. Swallow the tablet whole or as directed; do not crush or chew it. Take it at regular times as prescribed. High-protein meals can reduce how well it works, so ask your doctor how to space protein-rich foods.
Regular exercise, physiotherapy, and keeping to a consistent daily routine help maintain mobility. Getting up slowly can reduce dizziness on standing.
Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as this can cause a serious reaction with high fever and stiffness; your doctor will change the dose gradually. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, heart or lung disease, a stomach ulcer, a history of melanoma, or mental health problems, and about other medicines you take. This medicine can cause sudden sleepiness, so do not drive if affected. Tell your doctor if you notice hallucinations, confusion, uncontrolled movements, or urges such as gambling, shopping or eating that are hard to control. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
