CompositionSartel AM 40/5 Tablet is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults when a single medicine is not enough. It combines telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), with amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker.
Telmisartan relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows them, while amlodipine relaxes blood vessel muscle directly, and together they give stronger blood pressure control than either medicine alone.
Take this tablet as prescribed at the same time each day, with or without food, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and continue even if you feel well.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, as this combination is not suitable in pregnancy. Have your kidney function and blood salts checked periodically, and report swelling of the ankles, dizziness, or flushing.
