CompositionRoliflo OD 4 Capsule is used in men with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) who also have overactive bladder symptoms, such as a sudden urge to pass urine and needing to go often. It is a combination medicine containing tamsulosin, an alpha blocker, and tolterodine 4mg, an antimuscarinic, in an extended-release form.
Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck so urine flows more easily, while tolterodine relaxes the bladder wall to reduce urgency and frequency. It is usually used when an alpha blocker alone has not relieved the urgency symptoms. Take it once a day after the same meal, swallowed whole without opening or chewing.
Cutting down on caffeine and alcohol, spreading drinks through the day and emptying your bladder fully can help reduce symptoms.
Do not take this medicine if you cannot empty your bladder, have uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, a severe bowel condition or myasthenia gravis. Tell your doctor if you have difficulty passing urine, as this combination can make it harder. If you are due to have cataract or glaucoma surgery, tell your eye surgeon that you take this medicine, as it can affect the pupil during surgery. It can cause dizziness, especially when starting, so rise slowly and do not drive if affected. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, a heart rhythm problem or low blood pressure, and about other medicines you take, especially certain antifungals and antibiotics. Seek medical help if you cannot pass urine or have eye pain. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
