Rabekind 20 Tablet is used to manage acid reflux, heartburn and stomach and duodenal ulcers by lowering the amount of acid the stomach makes. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing rabeprazole 20mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
This medicine is also used to heal acid damage to the food pipe (erosive oesophagitis), to manage Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and, together with antibiotics, to clear Helicobacter pylori infection. Swallow the tablet whole, without crushing or chewing, usually before breakfast. Take it in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor.
Eating smaller meals, avoiding spicy, fatty or acidic food, limiting tea, coffee and alcohol, and waiting a few hours after eating before lying down can help reduce acid symptoms.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, low magnesium levels or osteoporosis, and about other medicines you take. Long-term use may need monitoring of magnesium and vitamin B12 levels. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you have difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, vomiting of blood, black stools or persistent diarrhoea. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
