CompositionPreva-AS 75 Tablet 15 is used to prevent blood clots in people who have had a heart attack, unstable chest pain (acute coronary syndrome) or a coronary stent. It is a combination medicine containing clopidogrel and aspirin, both of which belong to a class of medicines called antiplatelets.
This medicine is also used after some heart procedures and, when advised, for a limited time after certain strokes. Together, the two medicines stop blood cells called platelets from clumping, helping to keep arteries and stents open. Take it with food, as prescribed. Do not stop taking it without speaking to your doctor, as stopping suddenly, especially soon after a stent, can cause a clot.
Not smoking, eating a heart-healthy diet, staying active as advised, and controlling blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar all help protect your heart. Take care with sharp objects, as you may bleed more easily.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a stomach ulcer or bleeding, a bleeding disorder, asthma triggered by aspirin, or liver or kidney disease, and about other medicines you take, especially blood thinners, painkillers and acid-reducing medicines such as omeprazole. Tell any doctor or dentist that you take this medicine before surgery or procedures. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help straight away if you have black stools, vomit blood, blood in the urine, severe headache or weakness. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
