Ocupol Dx Eye/ear Drops 5ml

Ocupol Dx Eye/ear Drops 5ml is used for:

• Treatment of bacterial eye infections with associated inflammation.
• Management of bacterial ear infections involving swelling and pain.
• Postoperative eye or ear inflammation where bacterial contamination is a risk.
• Relief from redness, discharge, itching, and discomfort caused by susceptible bacteria.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before application.
• For eye use: Tilt the head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instil the prescribed number of drops without touching the dropper tip.
• For ear use, tilt the head sideways and instil drops into the affected ear as directed.
• Keep the eye closed or remain lying with the ear facing upward for 2–3 minutes after application.
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface.
• If using other eye or ear preparations, maintain a minimum interval of 10 minutes.

Ocupol Dx Eye/ear Drops 5ml is meant for ophthalmic (eye) or otic (ear) use only.

Ocupol Dx Eye/ear Drops 5ml contains the following components:

• Chloramphenicol (0.4%): A broad-spectrum antibacterial agent that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby stopping bacterial growth.
• Polymyxin B (5000 IU): An antibacterial agent effective against Gram-negative bacteria. It disrupts bacterial cell membrane integrity, leading to bacterial cell death.
• Dexamethasone (0.1%): A potent corticosteroid that suppresses inflammatory mediators, reducing redness, swelling, itching, and pain in infected tissues.
• Phenylmercuric nitrate (0.001%): Acts as a preservative with antimicrobial properties, helping maintain sterility of the formulation.

• Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place.
• Protect from direct light and heat.
• Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
• Do not touch the dropper tip.
• Keep out of reach and sight of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date.

• Maintain proper eye and ear hygiene.
• Avoid swimming or water entry into the ears during treatment unless advised.
• Limit screen exposure during eye infections.
