Metoz 2.5 Tablet is used to manage fluid retention (oedema) in people with heart failure, kidney disorders such as nephrotic syndrome, and, where specified by a doctor, in the management of high blood pressure. By helping the body remove excess salt and water, it reduces swelling and eases the strain on the heart.
It contains metolazone, a thiazide-like diuretic. Take it as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually advised to take it in the morning to avoid frequent urination during the night. Continue taking it as directed, even if you feel well, as the conditions it treats require ongoing management.
Because this medicine increases urination, it is important to maintain adequate fluid intake as advised by your doctor. Eat a diet rich in potassium-containing foods such as bananas and leafy vegetables unless your doctor advises otherwise, as this medicine may lower potassium levels.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, gout, or low electrolyte levels (particularly potassium, sodium, or magnesium). Your doctor will monitor blood electrolytes and kidney function at regular intervals during treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
