Ocupol DX Eye Ointment is a combination ophthalmic medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections accompanied by severe inflammation. It helps resolve bacterial conjunctivitis and blepharitis, rapidly relieving annoying symptoms like severe eye redness, painful swelling, intense itching, and localised discharge.
It contains chloramphenicol, polymyxin B, and dexamethasone. Chloramphenicol and polymyxin B are potent antibiotics that work together to destroy a wide range of infectious bacteria, while dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces swelling, irritation, and inflammatory responses in the eye tissue. It should be applied inside the lower eyelid.
To support your eye recovery, wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the ointment. Avoid wearing contact lenses during the treatment course, do not rub your eyes, and shield them from bright lights or dust. Always keep the tube tightly closed to ensure sterility.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have viral or fungal eye infections, glaucoma, or a history of high intraocular pressure. Ensure the tube tip never touches your eye or eyelashes to prevent contamination. Consult your healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
