Metoz 5 Tablet is used in adults to manage high blood pressure and to reduce fluid retention (oedema) associated with heart failure, kidney disease or liver disease.

Uses of Metoz 5 Tablet are:

• High Blood Pressure: Helps lower and control blood pressure in adults with hypertension.
• Heart-Related Fluid Retention: Reduces swelling caused by congestive heart failure.
• Kidney and Liver-Related Fluid Retention: Helps reduce fluid buildup linked to kidney disease and liver disease.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid breaking, crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Do not take more than the advised dose without consulting your doctor.

• Remember, it's important not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Metoz 5 Tablet is taken orally.

Metoz 5 Tablet contains metolazone (5 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Sodium and Chloride Excretion: Metolazone acts on the kidneys to increase the excretion of sodium and chloride. These two elements play a key role in maintaining the balance of fluids in our body.

• Water Excretion: By inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in a part of our kidney called the distal convoluted tubule, metolazone leads to increased water excretion. Water follows sodium and chloride out of the body, reducing fluid retention.

• Blood Volume Decrease: The process of increased water and electrolyte excretion leads to a decrease in blood volume. This reduction in blood volume lightens the workload on your heart and lowers blood pressure.

• Keep Metoz 5 Tablet at a temperature below 30°C.

• Avoid exposing the medication to extreme heat, direct sunlight, or moisture.

• Always place this medicine out of reach of children.

• Ensure you use the product before its expiry date.

• If you're managing hypertension with Metoz 5 Tablet, aim to limit your salt intake. Consuming too much salt can raise blood pressure levels.

• For those using Metoz 5 Tablet to alleviate edema, try to elevate the swollen area whenever possible. This can help reduce the accumulation of fluid in the tissues.
