Ocupol D Ointment is used to treat bacterial eye infections and the associated inflammation, helping clear the infection while reducing redness, swelling and discomfort in the eye.

Uses of Ocupol D Ointment are:

• Bacterial Conjunctivitis: Treats pink eye caused by bacterial infection.
• Blepharitis: Controls inflammation caused by eyelid infection.
• Corneal Ulcers and Keratitis: Manages serious infections involving the front of the eye.

You can apply Ocupol D Ointment as follows:

• Ensure your hands are clean before applying the ointment.

• If irritation persists or increases, discontinue the use and consult your doctor.

• Apply a little pressure to the corner of the closed eye to prevent loss of the medication.

• Always consult your doctor for precise use directions.

Ocupol D Ointment is applied topically.

Ocupol D Ointment consists of three active ingredients that work together:

• Polymyxin B Sulphate (10000 IU): This antibiotic is effective against gram-negative bacteria. It alters the permeability of bacterial cell membranes causing leakage of intracellular materials and eventually leads to cell death.

• Chloramphenicol (10 mg): This antibiotic works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to a part of the bacteria called the 50S ribosomal subunit, which helps stop the growth of bacteria causing the infection.

• Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate (1 mg): This is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by blocking certain substances in the body that trigger inflammatory responses.

• Store Ocupol D Ointment at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Keep the ointment away from direct light, heat, and moisture.

• Ensure the tube is tightly sealed after use.

• Use within one month after opening the container.

• If you are experiencing eye infections, avoid rubbing your eyes to prevent further irritation or spread of bacteria.
