Ocupol D Ointment is used to treat bacterial eye infections along with the inflammation they cause, such as conjunctivitis (pink eye), blepharitis (eyelid infection) and corneal ulcers.
It contains an antibiotic, chloramphenicol, which fights the bacteria causing the infection, along with a steroid, dexamethasone, that reduces redness, swelling, itching and discomfort. Apply it exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Wash your hands before applying the ointment and avoid touching the tip of the tube to your eye to prevent contamination and reinfection.
Consult your doctor before use if you have a viral or fungal eye infection, or a history of raised eye pressure (glaucoma). Seek medical attention if your symptoms worsen or your vision changes.
