Oceva Injection 1

Oceva Injection is used to manage eye diseases caused by abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the eye. Uses of Oceva Injection are:

• Diabetic eye disease: This medicine helps manage vision problems that occur when diabetes damages the blood vessels in the back of your eye.

• Wet age-related macular degeneration: It manages a condition where abnormal blood vessels grow under the macula (the central part of your retina that helps you see fine details), causing vision loss in older adults.

• Macular oedema due to retinal vein occlusion: This medicine reduces swelling in the macula caused by blocked veins in your retina.

• Macular oedema due to pathological myopia: It manages swelling in the macula caused by severe short-sightedness that leads to abnormal changes in your eye structure.

Your eye doctor will administer Oceva Injection into your eye. Follow these instructions:

• This medicine must be given by a qualified eye doctor in a medical setting.

• Do not attempt to self-administer this injection.

• Your doctor will clean and numb your eye before giving the injection.

• Attend all scheduled appointments to receive your doses as recommended by your doctor.

• Consult your doctor for specific advice about your treatment schedule.

Oceva Injection is administered by intravitreal injection into the eye by a qualified ophthalmologist.

Oceva Injection contains ranibizumab (10 mg/ml), which works on the body as follows:

• Blocks vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF): Ranibizumab works by blocking a protein called VEGF in your eye. VEGF is a substance that promotes the growth of new blood vessels and increases their leakiness.

• Stops abnormal blood vessel growth: By blocking VEGF, this medicine prevents the formation and growth of abnormal blood vessels in the retina (the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye).

• Reduces blood vessel leakage: The medicine decreases fluid leakage from abnormal blood vessels in the eye, which helps reduce swelling in the macula (the central part of the retina responsible for sharp, detailed vision).

• Prevents vision loss: These actions help preserve and sometimes improve vision in people with various eye conditions affecting the retina.

• Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat.

• An opened vial should be kept at a temperature below 2-8°C (in a refrigerator) to maintain the medicine's effectiveness. Unopened vials may be kept at room temperature (25°C), as per the manufacturer's instructions.

• Do not freeze this injection.

• Store in the original packaging to protect from light exposure.

• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

• Check the expiry date on the packaging and do not use after it has passed.

• Control your blood sugar levels: If you have diabetic eye disease, eat a balanced diet with whole grains, vegetables, and lean proteins while limiting sugary foods and refined carbohydrates to help protect your vision.

• Protect your eyes from strain: Reduce activities that tire your eyes, take regular breaks from screens, and wear sunglasses outdoors to shield your eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays.
