Nintena 100 Capsule is used to manage idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a condition that causes scarring of the lungs, and other fibrotic lung diseases in adults, including chronic fibrosing interstitial lung diseases and systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing nintedanib, and belongs to a class of medicines called kinase inhibitors.
This medicine slows the scarring process in the lungs, and it is also used together with chemotherapy to treat certain types of non-small cell lung cancer. Take the capsule whole with food, at the same time each day, and swallow it with water without crushing or chewing it. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Avoiding smoking and keeping to all follow-up appointments for lung function and blood tests support safe, effective treatment alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any liver problems, bleeding disorders or recent surgery before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. This medicine is not suitable during pregnancy, so tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report severe stomach pain, black stools or yellowing of the skin or eyes promptly, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
