CompositionNilac-A Gel is used to treat mild to moderate acne, including blackheads, whiteheads and inflamed spots. It is a combination medicine containing adapalene, a retinoid, and clindamycin, an antibiotic, and belongs to a group of medicines called topical anti-acne agents.
This medicine helps clear blocked pores, reduces acne-causing bacteria and calms inflammation, which may also help prevent new spots. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas once a day in the evening, after gently washing and drying the skin, as directed by your doctor. Keep it away from the eyes, lips and mouth. Some dryness and irritation are usual in the first few weeks.
Using a mild cleanser, an oil-free moisturiser and a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day can help protect the skin, which may become more sensitive to sunlight. Avoid picking or squeezing spots.
Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, and tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Before using it, tell your doctor if you have eczema, sensitive or sunburnt skin, or a history of colitis or diarrhoea with antibiotics, and about other skin products you use. Contact your doctor if you develop severe irritation, persistent diarrhoea or signs of an allergic reaction. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
