CompositionMONOCAN 200 Capsule is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails, mouth, throat and lungs. It contains itraconazole, an azole antifungal, and is also used to prevent fungal infections in certain at-risk patients.
Itraconazole works by damaging the fungal cell membrane, which prevents the fungus from growing and spreading, allowing the infection to clear over the course of treatment.
Take this capsule with a full meal, as food improves absorption of the medicine. Complete the full course exactly as prescribed, even if your symptoms improve early, to prevent the infection returning.
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or heart failure, as itraconazole can affect both and may not be suitable. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting any new medicine, as itraconazole interacts with a wide range of commonly used medicines, and avoid it in pregnancy.
