MESACOL ENEMA 60ML is used to:

• Manage mild to moderate distal ulcerative colitis, proctosigmoiditis, ulcerative proctitis
• Reduce rectal inflammation and bleeding
• Help relieve abdominal discomfort and bowel urgency associated with inflammatory bowel disease

Follow these instructions while using MESACOL ENEMA 60ML:

• Use the enema exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Shake the bottle well before use.
• Remove the protective cover from the applicator tip before administration.
• Gently insert the applicator tip into the rectum and squeeze the bottle slowly.
• This medicine is usually used at bedtime and retained for several hours if possible.
• Empty your bowel before administration if possible.

MESACOL ENEMA 60ML is administered rectally.

MESACOL ENEMA 60ML contains the following active ingredient:

• Mesalamine / Mesalazine (4 gm): It is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory medicine that works locally in the colon and rectum to help reduce inflammation. It helps block inflammatory chemicals such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes involved in ulcerative colitis. This helps reduce rectal bleeding, bowel irritation, abdominal discomfort, and inflammation associated with inflammatory bowel disease.

• Store MESACOL ENEMA 60ML at room temperature below 25°C.
• Keep the medicine protected from excessive heat and moisture.
• Protect from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Discard enemas with dark brown contents.
• Use opened foil-packed enemas promptly as advised by your doctor.

• Drink adequate fluids during treatment, as proper hydration may help reduce the risk of kidney-related complications associated with inflammatory bowel disease treatment.
• Avoid foods that worsen bowel symptoms, such as very spicy, oily, or highly processed foods, if they trigger abdominal discomfort or diarrhoea.
• Eat smaller and balanced meals if bowel symptoms worsen during flare-ups.
• Avoid smoking, as smoking may worsen inflammatory bowel disease symptoms in some individuals.
