CompositionMelanocyl Tablet is used to treat skin pigmentation disorders such as vitiligo and psoriasis, alongside controlled ultraviolet (UV) light therapy. It helps the skin gradually regain its natural colour and improves scaly, itchy or discoloured patches.
It contains methoxsalen. It belongs to a group of medicines called psoralens. It works by making the skin more sensitive to UV light, which, when combined with light therapy, stimulates the skin to produce pigment (melanin). Take it as prescribed, usually a few hours before your light therapy session, and continue the full course your doctor recommends.
Protecting your skin and eyes from unplanned sun exposure is an important part of treatment. Wear UV-protective sunglasses if advised, cover exposed skin between doses and light sessions, and attend all follow-up and light-therapy appointments as scheduled.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any skin conditions, eye problems or other medicines you use. Because it increases sensitivity to light, avoid extra sun exposure and follow your doctor's sun-protection advice carefully. Contact your doctor if you notice severe skin redness, blistering or eye discomfort.
