CompositionGlyciphage SR 500 Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults by controlling blood sugar, and in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to help regulate menstrual cycles and support hormonal balance.
It contains metformin, a biguanide. It works by improving the body's response to insulin, reducing the glucose made by the liver, and lowering the sugar absorbed from food.
Take it with food to reduce stomach upset, and continue regularly even when you feel well. If you are due an X-ray or scan with contrast dye, or an operation, tell your doctor, as this medicine may need to be paused.
Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems before starting. Tell your doctor straight away about unusual muscle pain, extreme tiredness or difficulty breathing, which can rarely signal lactic acidosis.
