CompositionMaxim Eye Drop is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), an infection of the thin, clear layer covering the white of the eye that causes redness, sticky discharge and irritation. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing moxifloxacin 0.5%, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones.
This medicine works against a wide range of bacteria that commonly cause eye infections, and is also used for other bacterial infections on the surface of the eye as advised by your eye doctor. It does not treat viral or fungal infections. Wash your hands, tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid and put in the drops as prescribed, without letting the dropper tip touch your eye or any surface. Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for about a minute afterwards, and continue for the full course even if your eye looks better.
Avoid rubbing your eyes, wash your hands often, and do not share towels, pillows or eye make-up while you have an infection. Do not wear contact lenses until the infection has cleared.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to moxifloxacin or any other fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and about other eye drops you use; leave a few minutes between different drops. Your vision may blur briefly after use, so wait until it clears before driving. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if your eye becomes more painful or swollen, your vision changes, or there is no improvement within a few days. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
