Maxim D Eye Drops 5ml

Maxim D Eye Drops 5ml are used for the following:

• Managing bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of bacteria

• Reducing inflammation after eye surgery

• Controlling swelling, redness and itching associated with eye inflammation

• Ensure your hands are clean before instilling the drops.

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.

• Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze out a drop.

• Close your eye and gently press your finger to the corner of your eye near the nose for about 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct.

• Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface, to avoid contamination.

• Replace and tighten the cap on the dropper bottle right away after use.

• If you need to instil any other eye medication, wait at least a few minutes before doing so. Always consult your doctor for specific instructions.

Maxim D Eye Drops 5ml contain two active ingredients:

• Moxifloxacin (0.5%): This is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic that acts against bacteria causing eye infections. It inhibits bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication and leading to bacterial cell death. Its broad spectrum of activity is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

• Dexamethasone (0.1%): As a potent corticosteroid, dexamethasone works by suppressing inflammation in your eyes. It inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This action reduces capillary permeability, thus decreasing fluid transudation and reducing swelling or oedema in your eyes.

• Store Maxim D Eye Drops 5ml in a cool and dry place, ideally below 30°C.

• Do not freeze.

• Keep the bottle tightly sealed to prevent exposure to air and light.

• Ensure the medicine is out of reach of children.

• Since Maxim D Eye Drops 5ml are used to manage bacterial eye infections, maintaining good eye hygiene is crucial. Avoid touching your eyes with dirty hands, and regularly clean your eyewear.

• If you've undergone eye surgery, ensure you have a regular sleep pattern. Adequate rest aids in the healing process.
