CompositionLexanox Plus Paste is used to relieve pain and help heal mouth ulcers (aphthous ulcers). It is a combination medicine containing amlexanox, an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic agent, and lidocaine hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic.
This medicine is also used to ease soreness from minor mouth injuries and sores caused by dentures or braces. lidocaine hydrochloride numbs the area to relieve pain, while amlexanox helps the ulcer heal faster. Dry the ulcer gently, then dab a small amount of paste onto it after meals and at bedtime, as advised by your doctor or dentist. Avoid eating or drinking for about 30 minutes afterwards.
Avoiding spicy, salty, acidic or hard foods, brushing gently with a soft toothbrush and rinsing with warm salt water between applications can help ulcers heal.
This paste is for use inside the mouth only; do not swallow large amounts. Before using it, tell your doctor or dentist about any allergies, especially to local anaesthetics, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Take care not to bite your lip or tongue while it is numb. Contact your doctor or dentist if ulcers are large, very painful, keep coming back, or do not heal within 10 days. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
