Levoflox Tablet is used to treat mild to moderate bacterial infections of the lungs, sinuses, urinary tract, kidneys, skin, and prostate. It is also used to reduce the risk of inhalation anthrax following exposure.
It contains levofloxacin 250mg, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication. This stops bacteria from multiplying and allows the body's immune system to clear the infection.
Take the tablet with or without food, with a full glass of water. Avoid antacids, calcium, and iron supplements within two hours of taking the tablet. Complete the full prescribed course even if you feel better.
Nausea, diarrhoea, and dizziness are the most common effects and usually settle. Rarely, tendon problems may occur, stop the tablet and tell your doctor if you have pain or swelling in a tendon.
