For epilepsy, it is prescribed to control partial and generalized seizures alone or with other medicines. For bipolar disorder, it works as a mood stabilizer to delay or prevent extreme mood episodes such as depression or mania.
Take this tablet regularly at the same time each day as directed by your doctor. If it is a dispersible tablet (DT), dissolve it in a small amount of water before swallowing. Do not stop taking this medicine abruptly, as doing so can trigger a sudden increase in seizures.
Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney issues, or a history of drug rashes. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any new skin rash, fever, or swollen glands, as serious skin reactions can occasionally occur.
