Composition
Kofarest-PD Oral Drops is used to relieve a wet cough with thick mucus in infants and young children, particularly with wheezing in bronchitis or asthma. It is a combination respiratory medicine containing levosalbutamol (a bronchodilator), ambroxol (a mucolytic) and guaifenesin (an expectorant).
This medicine loosens sticky phlegm so your child can cough it up more easily, and relaxes the airways to ease wheezing and chest tightness. Give the exact dose prescribed by the doctor using the dropper provided; the dose depends on your child's age and weight.
Giving plenty of fluids helps keep mucus thin, and keeping your child away from smoke and dust reduces airway irritation. Gently clearing your child's nose before feeds can make breathing and feeding easier.
Before giving this medicine, tell the doctor if your child has heart problems, a fast heartbeat, diabetes, an overactive thyroid or epilepsy, and about other medicines your child takes. Seek medical help straight away if your child has fast or difficult breathing, bluish lips, a high fever, or is not feeding or unusually drowsy. Contact the doctor if you notice a fast or pounding heartbeat, shaking or restlessness. Do not stop giving this medicine unless the doctor advises you to do so.
