Empagliflozin (10 Mg) + Metformin (1000 Mg) + Sitagliptin (100 Mg)

Istamet Empa 10/100/1000 Tablet 10 is a medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled on metformin alone or with another diabetes medicine.

It combines empagliflozin, sitagliptin and metformin, which work together through different actions to lower blood sugar. Take it with food as prescribed, alongside a balanced diet and regular physical activity, for better glucose control.

A balanced diet with controlled carbohydrate intake, regular exercise and staying well hydrated support better blood sugar control alongside this medicine.

Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor about your kidney function, liver function, and overall health, and about other medicines you take. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report symptoms of a urinary or genital infection, or unusual thirst and tiredness, promptly.

Istamet Empa 10/100/1000 Tablet 10 may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Istamet Empa 10/100/1000 Tablet 10:

Urinary and Genital: Urinary tract infections, genital infections, and increased urination.
Digestive: Loose motions (diarrhoea), feeling sick (nausea), gas, stomach discomfort and indigestion.

Empagliflozin (10 mg): Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It lowers blood glucose by reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion through urine.
Metformin (1000 mg): Metformin is a biguanide that decreases glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, enhancing glucose utilisation.
Sitagliptin (100 mg): Sitagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones, thereby improving insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.

Pregnancy
