Hipres 50 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina) in adults. It is a single-ingredient beta-blocker containing atenolol.
It also helps protect the heart after a heart attack and lowers the risk of long-term heart complications. Take it with or without food, at a fixed time, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can cause a sharp rise in blood pressure or severe chest pain.
Eat less salt (pickles, papad, packaged snacks), exercise regularly, keep to a healthy weight and avoid smoking, as these support blood pressure control alongside this medicine.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have asthma, a slow heartbeat, circulation problems, kidney disease or diabetes and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless specifically prescribed. Report extreme fatigue, cold hands or feet, or severe dizziness to your doctor. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
