Famtac 40 Tablet is used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers and to manage gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is a single-ingredient H2 blocker containing famotidine.
This medicine also relieves heartburn and acid indigestion and is used for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Take it with or without food in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Avoiding spicy, fried or acidic foods, eating smaller meals and not lying down soon after eating can reduce acidity. Limiting tea, coffee, alcohol and smoking also helps ulcers heal.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need adjusting, and about all other medicines you take. Report black stools, persistent stomach pain or difficulty swallowing promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
