Alkem Dexa Injection 2 ML is used to manage severe allergic reactions, marked inflammation and a range of immune related conditions. It is also used in certain eye disorders, some skin conditions, asthma flare ups and as part of treatment for certain cancer related complications.
It contains dexamethasone, a corticosteroid. It is given as an injection by a healthcare professional, with the dose and frequency depending on the condition being treated, usually for short term use in emergency or flare up situations. This medicine should not be stopped suddenly if it has been given over several days, as the dose often needs to be reduced gradually.
Eating a balanced diet low in salt and added sugar, getting enough calcium and vitamin D to support bone health, and following any infection prevention advice from your healthcare team can support safer use of this medicine.
Before receiving this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any infections, diabetes, high blood pressure, mental health concerns, or are taking other medicines. Repeated or high dose use can affect blood sugar, bone strength and blood pressure. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should discuss the risks and benefits with their doctor.
