Deritard Injection 2ml

Deritard Injection 2ml is used for the following:

• Treatment of acute asthma attacks

• Management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

• Relief from severe breathing difficulties

• Adjunct therapy for reversible airflow obstruction

• Hospital management of respiratory emergencies

• Alternative therapy when oral medicines cannot be taken

• Supportive care during respiratory distress

• Short-term bronchodilation in emergency settings

• Complementary treatment with inhaled bronchodilators

• Therapy, when faster airway relief is needed

Follow these instructions when Deritard Injection 2ml is administered:

• This medicine should only be administered by a trained medical professional.

• The injection is administered slowly over 10-15 minutes. It should not be administered as a rapid injection.

• Your heart rate and breathing will be monitored during administration.

• The injection site should be monitored for any discomfort or reaction.

Deritard Injection 2ml is administered intravenously.

Deritard Injection 2ml contains two active ingredients:

• Theophylline (25.3 mg): As a methylxanthine, theophylline inhibits phosphodiesterases and additionally blocks adenosine receptors in airway tissues. This dual action contributes to bronchodilation (widening of airways) and reduces the release of inflammatory mediators that can trigger airway constriction.

• Etofylline (84.7 mg): This methylxanthine derivative works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase enzymes in your airways. This inhibition increases a substance called cyclic AMP within cells, which helps relax the smooth muscles in your bronchial passages, making breathing easier.

• Store Deritard Injection 2ml ampoules below 25°C in a cool, dry place.

• Keep the injection protected from direct light and excessive heat.

• Avoid using if the solution appears discoloured or contains particles.

• Always keep out of reach of children.

• Check the expiry date on the packaging and avoid using it after this date.

• If you have asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, avoid smoking completely as it worsens breathing problems and reduces the effectiveness of Deritard Injection 2ml.
