Dapavel 5 Tablet is used for the following:

• Improving blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, alongside diet and exercise

• Lowering the risk of hospitalisation due to heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes and existing heart disease or multiple risk factors

• Slowing down the decline in kidney function, reducing the risk of end-stage kidney disease, preventing cardiovascular death, and lowering chances of hospitalisation for heart failure in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of progression.

Dapavel 5 Tablet contains dapagliflozin (5 mg) and works in your body through the following mechanisms:

• Inhibition of SGLT2: Dapagliflozin blocks the function of SGLT2. This protein is usually responsible for absorbing back most of the glucose filtered by your kidneys.

• Increased Glucose Excretion: Because SGLT2 is inhibited, less glucose gets reabsorbed back into your blood from the kidneys. Instead, more glucose gets removed from your body through urine.

• Reduced Blood Glucose Levels: As more glucose leaves your body via urine and less gets reabsorbed back into your blood, overall blood glucose levels decrease.
