Cpressin P Injection  is used in hospital settings to manage diabetes insipidus of pituitary origin, to control bleeding from oesophageal varices, and to support blood pressure in severe hypotension, shock and certain critical care situations.

Uses of Vpress 20 Injection are:

• Diabetes Insipidus: Helps manage fluid balance in diabetes insipidus of pituitary origin.
• Variceal Bleeding: Helps control bleeding from oesophageal varices (enlarged veins in the food pipe).
• Shock and Critical Care Support: Helps support blood pressure in severe hypotension, vasodilatory shock, cardiac arrest and cardiovascular collapse.
• Postoperative Care: May be used to manage postoperative abdominal distension.

Follow these instructions when Cpressin P Injection is administered:

• This medication must only be administered by trained healthcare professionals in a hospital setting.

• The injection is administered intravenously, either as a direct injection or continuous infusion.

• Proper monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is essential during administration.

• The injection site should be kept clean and sterile.

• Watch for any signs of skin discolouration at the injection site.

• Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions after receiving this medicine.

Cpressin P Injection is administered intravenously.

Cpressin P Injection contains vasopressin (20 IU), which works on the body as follows:

• V1a receptor binding: Vasopressin binds to V1a receptors located in vascular smooth muscle, causing powerful vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels), which increases blood pressure.

• V2 receptor activation: When binding to V2 receptors in the kidney's collecting ducts, vasopressin increases water reabsorption, reducing urine output and correcting excessive water loss.

• V1b receptor stimulation: Activation of V1b receptors in the pituitary gland stimulates the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), contributing to the body's stress response.

• Haemostatic effect: By causing vasoconstriction in the splanchnic circulation (blood vessels supplying digestive organs), vasopressin reduces blood flow to bleeding sites, particularly helpful in controlling bleeding from oesophageal varices.

• Store Cpressin P Injection below 25°C in a cool, dry place.

• Keep the vials protected from direct light exposure.

• Never freeze the medicine as this can damage its structure.

• Store all vials securely out of the reach of children.

• Check the expiry date and do not use it after this date.

• If you have diabetes insipidus (a condition where your body cannot regulate water properly), maintain consistent fluid intake throughout the day rather than drinking large amounts at once.

• Limit sodium (salt) and protein intake it can increase urine production and worsen polyuria, especially in those treated for diabetes insipidus or at risk of fluid imbalance.
