Management of essential hypertension in adults
Use as initial therapy for patients likely to need multiple medicines to control their blood pressure
Blood pressure regulation in patients inadequately controlled on either cilnidipine or telmisartan monotherapy.

Cortel LN Tablet contains two active ingredients that work together to manage high blood pressure:

Cilnidipine (10 mg): This ingredient is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It works by blocking the inflow of calcium ions into your heart and blood vessel cells. This makes your blood vessels relax and widen, lowering your peripheral vascular resistance and reducing your blood pressure.
Telmisartan (40 mg): This component is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It selectively blocks angiotensin II from binding with receptors in your vascular smooth muscle and adrenal gland. By inhibiting these activities of angiotensin II, telmisartan decreases vascular resistance and ultimately reduces your blood pressure.

These two ingredients work in tandem through different mechanisms to control high blood pressure effectively.

Pregnancy

Cortel LN Tablet is contraindicated during your second and third trimesters of pregnancy. If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, discuss this with your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breastfeeding

Caution is advised if you are lactating. Always consult your doctor before starting this medicine.

Alcohol

Strong CYP3A4 inducers like rifampin and phenytoin: These can decrease cilnidipine levels, which may reduce its effectiveness.
