Colimex Oral Drops is used to relieve tummy cramps, colicky pain and discomfort caused by trapped gas and spasms of the gut in children. It is a combination medicine containing dicyclomine, an antispasmodic, and simethicone, an anti-foaming agent that helps gas bubbles pass.
This medicine helps relax the muscles of the gut and ease bloating and gas. Measure each dose exactly with the dropper provided and give it only as prescribed by the doctor, who will decide the dose based on your child's age and weight.
Feeding your child in an upright position, burping them gently after feeds and gentle tummy massage can help reduce gas build-up.
This medicine must not be given to babies under 6 months of age, as dicyclomine can cause serious breathing problems in young infants. Before giving it, tell the doctor if your child has breathing, heart, kidney or liver problems, or is taking other medicines. Seek medical help straight away if your child has breathing difficulty, pauses in breathing, unusual sleepiness, a fast heartbeat, or a swollen, hard tummy. Do not stop giving this medicine unless the doctor advises you to do so.
