Mext 7.5 F Tablet is used to manage active rheumatoid arthritis and moderate-to-severe psoriasis in adults. Methotrexate reduces inflammation and suppresses the overactive immune response driving these conditions, while folic acid is co-packaged to reduce the risk of methotrexate-related side effects.
It contains methotrexate 7.5 mg and folic acid 1 mg in a combikit. Methotrexate is taken once weekly, not daily. Folic acid is taken on the other days of the week, not on the same day as methotrexate. Take it exactly as prescribed; accidental daily use of methotrexate can be fatal.
Regular blood tests (liver function, full blood count, and kidney function) are essential throughout treatment. Avoid alcohol entirely. Attending all monitoring appointments is a critical part of safe management alongside this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any liver problems, kidney disease, active infections, lung disease, or other medicines. Both women and men must use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 6 months (women) and 3 months (men) after stopping, as methotrexate is highly teratogenic. Do not become pregnant during treatment.
