Clopitab 150 Tablet 10 is used in adults to prevent atherothrombotic events in people with a history of heart attack, stroke or peripheral arterial disease, including after coronary procedures.

Uses of Clopitab 150 Tablet 10 are:

• Atherothrombotic Event Prevention: Helps prevent heart attacks and strokes in people with a history of heart disease or stroke.
• Peripheral Arterial Disease: Helps manage established peripheral arterial disease.
• Post-procedure Protection: Helps reduce the risk of stent thrombosis and is used after procedures such as bypass surgery.

When taking Clopitab 150 Tablet, follow these steps:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid breaking or chewing the tablet.

Clopitab 150 Tablet is taken orally.

Clopitab 150 Tablet contains clopidogrel (150 mg), and its activity in the body can be understood as follows:

• Hepatic Biotransformation: Clopidogrel is a prodrug, meaning it requires transformation in the liver, specifically via an enzyme called CYP2C19, into an active metabolite that can exert its effects.

• Inhibition of Platelet Aggregation: The active metabolite of clopidogrel selectively and irreversibly inhibits the binding of a molecule called adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its receptor on platelets. This stops the activation of a complex of proteins (glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex) on the platelets, which normally leads to platelets sticking together. By preventing this, clopidogrel effectively reduces the risk of blood clots forming and causing heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular events.
