Ciprobid 500 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract, lungs, skin, gut, bones and joints, including typhoid fever and infectious diarrhoea, and certain serious infections when specifically prescribed.

It contains ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It works by stopping bacteria copying their DNA, which kills them.

Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the full course. Avoid dairy products or antacids at the same time, as they reduce absorption, and use sun protection.

Tell your doctor about any tendon problems, seizures, heart-rhythm or kidney conditions before use. Stop and contact your doctor for tendon pain or swelling.

Ciprobid 500 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections.

Uses of Ciprobid 500 Tablet are:

Urinary and Kidney Infections: Treats cystitis, prostatitis and kidney infections.
Chest and Gut Infections: Treats respiratory and gut infections, including typhoid.
Bone and Joint Infections: Treats bacterial infections of the bones and joints.

This medication should be taken as per the instructions provided by your doctor.
Swallow it as a whole with water after your meal to avoid stomach discomfort.
Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
Take the Ciprobid 500 Tablet at a fixed time for best results.

The Ciprobid 500 Tablet is to be taken orally.

Ciprobid 500 Tablet may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Ciprobid 500 Tablet:

Digestive: Feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, loose motions (diarrhoea) and indigestion.

By inhibiting these enzymes, ciprofloxacin stops the bacteria from multiplying and spreading the infection.

Pregnancy

It is preferred to avoid the use of Ciprobid 500 Tablet in pregnancy. It is advised to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant before taking this medicine.

Breastfeeding

Antiarrhythmics such as quinidine, hydroquinone, disopyramide, and amiodarone when taken with Ciprobid 500 Tablet may interact and increase the effects of antiarrhythmics.
Tricyclic antidepressants such as doxepin and amoxapine when taken with Ciprobid 500 Tablet may interact and increase the effect of tricyclic antidepressants.
Macrolide antibiotics such as azithromycin and clarithromycin when taken with Ciprobid 500 Tablet may interact and increase the effect of macrolide antibiotics.
Vasodilators such as pentoxifylline when taken with Ciprobid 500 Tablet may interact and increase the effect of vasodilators.
Antidepressants such as agomelatine when taken with Ciprobid 500 Tablet may interact and increase the effect of antidepressants.
Proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole when taken with Ciprobid 500 Tablet may interact and decrease the effect of Ciprobid 500 Tablet.
