Carbizole 5 Tablet 100 is used for the following:

• Treatment of overactive thyroid gland

• Management of hyperthyroidism symptoms

• Preparation before thyroid surgery

• Preparation for radioactive iodine therapy

• Controlling excessive thyroid hormone production

• Reducing thyroid hormone synthesis

• Managing Graves' disease

• Stabilising thyroid activity before procedures

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• You can take this medicine with or without food.

• Take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

• Do not cut, crush, or chew the tablet.

• Continue taking this medicine regularly for as long as your doctor has advised.

• Regular blood tests will help your doctor monitor your thyroid function.

Carbizole 5 Tablet 100 is taken orally.

Carbizole 5 Tablet 100 contains carbimazole (5 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits Thyroid Hormone Production: Carbimazole is converted to thiamazole (methimazole) in your body, which blocks the formation of thyroid hormones by interfering with key processes in the thyroid gland.

• Prevents Iodide Organification: It stops iodide from being incorporated into tyrosine residues, which is an essential step in forming thyroid hormones.

• Blocks Iodothyronine Coupling: Carbimazole inhibits the coupling of iodotyrosine residues, preventing the final formation of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4.

• Reduces Thyroid Hormone Release: By disrupting these processes, it effectively decreases the amount of thyroid hormones released from an overactive thyroid gland.

• Store Carbizole 5 Tablet 100 at room temperature (below 25°C) in a dry place.

• Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture.
